Helen Speaks at Chosen 2012

I had the honor and privilege of being one of the keynote speakers for Seacoast Church‘s first women’s conference, which they aptly titled “Chosen”. It was an amazing experience, where I was truly humbled to be on the platform with other women who were incredible speakers (Lisa Bevere and Jo Saxton), as well as spending time with a group of moms who are inspiring me with their missional lives. Check out a peek of the Chosen 2012 recap here. And if you live anywhere near Charleston, SC, make plans to attend Chosen 2013!

Helen Speaks at Moody’s 2011 Missions Conference

I encouraged Moody Bible Institute students to “Think Different” (an homage to the recently departed Steve Jobs) about the future, about marriage and family, and about their mission as Moody students. Feel free to listen in on my talk, which even included the participation of my three boys! You’ll also find links to other talks at this annual conference to encourage, challenge, and inspire you!

Helen at the Sentralized Conference!

I’m excited to be a workshop speaker at the Sentralized Conference in Kansas City! Many key people in the missional conversation will be present (Alan and Deb Hirsch, Dan Kimball, Mike Breen, Neil Cole, to name a few), and I’m honored to add my voice to the discussion.  I’m also excited to learn from these speakers, then bring back what I’ve learned and share it here! If you are anywhere near the Kansas City area at that time, come and join us!

Time with Tricia Goyer!

I’m thrilled to be on Tricia Goyer’s radio show this week, live at 3:15 p.m. Central time, June 23rd. You can click here to listen live to our conversation or to access the interview at a later time. Tricia is an amazingly prolific author of both fiction and non-fiction, speaking to the hearts of Christian women and moms everywhere, in addition to hosting her weekly radio show. I’m looking forward to our time together!

A Night With Park Church Moms in Chicago

I recently had the good fortune to spend an evening with the moms of Park Community Church in Chicago. I don’t often have the chance to spend time in the city on a weekday evening, so it was a fun treat and a wonderful gathering at one of the most well-organized and well-planned events I’ve ever attended. Moms are amazing people, I say! If you’d like a peek at what I discussed that evening, feel free to check out the video of my talk!

Vote for the Compton Initiative!

The Compton Initiative, a long-term project that aims to transform the city of Compton, CA into a city of hope and promise, is mentioned in The Missional Mom as several of the women interviewed have been long-time volunteers with this initiative. The project is currently in the running for Pepsi’s Good Ideas program, which gives money to those endeavors receiving the most votes.
